by Tammy Doering on October 07, 2020

- what is it

   - a condition in which skin cells build up and form scales, and itchy dry patches

   - thought to be an immune system problems

   - is typically triggered by things like a cold, stress, or infection

   - the most common symptom is a rash

   - but sometimes the rash can be on your nails

- beauty tips to relieve symptoms

   - moisturize frequently

       - keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized is the most simple way to manage psoriasis

       - the best time to apply moisturizer is right after a bath or a shower

       - this is because your skin is at its softest and at its most moist

       - when it's colder outside you need to use a thicker cream, or apply more layers to protect your skin from the weather

       - during the summer months, apply moisturizer once or twice a day depending on how your skin feels

       - this keeps your skin from becoming too saturated which can cause other issues

   - take Dead Sea Semi-Dry Salt baths

        - soaking in a warm bath can be very beneficial to psoriasis

        - it can loosen the scales so your skin doesn't feel as tight

        - it can also help to reduce the itching and inflammation

        - adding the dead sea salt to the bath can boost the benefits

        - dead sea salt improves blood circulation which results in healthier skin cells

        - this in turn gives you a lower number of skin scales

        - the fact that your dry skin causes this is another reason the Dead Sea is beneficial

        - the dead sea salts contain magnesium, potassium, sodium, and calcium

        - all of those minerals boost skin hydration which eases the symptoms of psoriasis

   - don't scrub too hard

        - when taking your makeup off, or bathing don't scrub harshly

        - you want to scrub lightly to prevent your skin from becoming irritated

        - opt for using a soft washcloth instead of something like a loofa

        - something abrasive like a loofa can actually worsen your psoriasis symptoms

        - use gentle, chemical free products on your skin as well as these won’t be as harsh on your psoriasis areas

        - avoid picking, scratching, or rubbing your scales because this will cause it to grow back thicker

   - get in the sun

        - psoriasis can benefit from some exposure to UV rays

        - spend around 15 minutes outside daily

        - but don’t get too much exposure as this can cause flare ups and other issues

        - controlled periods of exposure can help manage your symptoms

        - even during colder months try to get some outside exposure to keep your skin feeling it’s best

   - manage your stress

        - excessive stress is linked to psoriasis flare ups

        - and flare-ups themselves tend to cause stress

        - this can lead to a rather vicious cycle

        - try things to manage your stress levels at home

        - you can do things such as:

            - meditation

            - yoga

            - deep breathing

            - self care

            - exercise

   - STAY FULLY HYDRATED
        - psorasis type skin is severely over-dry. Flaking, itchy raised patches need hydration from the inside, too.

   - Use Natural Makeup
        - most makeup products on the market today are loaded with toxic ingredients that can cause harm to your skin and health now and in the future. Find natural makeup products that are safe for you and a newborn baby.
